Don't rest on your laurels and time is of the essence.
These are the two key messages President Moon Jae-in had for his government and the country's politicians as his administration nears the first full year in office on Tuesday.
The president began his weekly Cabinet meeting by complimenting his cabinet members for a year well done and encouraging them to keep up the good work.
President Moon then went on to urge parliament to swiftly review the government's supplementary budget proposal submitted to the National Assembly over a month ago.

"Time is of the essence for budget supplements. That's because we can achieve the goal of the supplementary budget only when we implement it on time."

He explained that the 3-point-6 billion U.S. dollar extra budget is aimed at realizing the minimum number of government projects that are critical to creating new jobs for the youth and to help sectors suffering from prolonged slumps such as shipbuilding and automobiles.
