North Korean leader 'prepared' to 'help achieve us' denuclearization: Pompeo
  • 6 years ago
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is "prepared" to lay out a map that would help achieve denuclearization.
In an interview with ABC News on Saturday, Pompeo said he had a "good conversation" with Kim when he paid a visit to North Korea last month as President Trump's special envoy to set the groundwork for a summit meeting between the two.
Pompeo recalled Kim as being "very well prepared" for their secret meeting and that they had an "extensive conversation" on the hardest issues that the two countries face.
Pompeo said he delivered a clear mission statement from President Trump and said he left knowing that Kim understood the mission exactly.
