China lashes out at Japan for claim to Diaoyu Islands

Right Semin-- we start with the Japanese government's recent endorsement of new high school textbook guidelines, claiming sovereignty over certain islands in the region.
This has sparked a furious response from South Korea and China.
Relations with Seoul have frayed even more after Tokyo's renewed claim to Korea's Dokdo Island in the East Sea... and now China is speaking up over Tokyo's claim to the Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea, known as Senkaku in Japan.
At a regular press briefing over the weekend, Beijing's foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said the Diaoyu Islands and its adjacent islets have been an inherent part of Chinese territory since ancient times.
He urged Japan to adopt a correct historical view when educating young people and to stop its provocations.
