Amid renewed attention to a cronyism scandal surrounding Japanese Prime minister Shinzo Abe, his Cabinet's approval rating has taken another hit.
A Kyodo News poll released on Sunday shows support dropping to 38-point-seven percent, down nine-point-four percentage points from a previous poll conducted about two weeks ago.
The latest survey was conducted over the weekend, about a week after the Finance Ministry admitted to removing references of Abe and his wife from documents linked to the scandal.
More than 66 percent of respondents said Abe should be held accountable for the ministry's action.
However, 47-point-six percent said Abe does not need to resign, while 43-point-eight percent said he should.
