Unemployment period for 20s reached 3.1 months last year, longest on record

Last year,... the average period of unemployment experienced by South Koreans in their 20s reached its longest on record: just over three months.
According to Statistics Korea on Tuesday, last year's average was about three days longer than the previous year, the longest since tallies were first taken in 2000.
The period was especially long for those in their late 20s, reaching almost three-and-a-half months,... mostly for graduates fresh out of college.
Experts attribute the increasing period of unemployment to a divided structure in the job market between permanent and contract positions.
