DVB Debate Report: 'Government most responsible for reconciliation' (English)

This week in DVB debate, the studio asks “How real is the national reconciliation?”
Myanmar has been longing for the national reconciliation for decades. Since the country became independent in 1948, it has been suffering under civil war. During the military ruling for 5 decades, trust among the military, government, ethnics groups, opposition and people got lost. After President Thein Sein came into power, he addressed the importance of national reconciliation. However, it seems this process is still far from succeeding.
Recently, the President, the government leaders, political parties and 4 ethnic armed forces signed the Deed of Commitment for Peace and National Reconciliation which involved 5 points.
