Islamophobia: Muslim teens beaten outside NYC mosque, NYPD call it ‘non-bias incident’ - TomoNews

NEW YORK — Two teens were viciously beaten in what the Muslim community is calling a hate crime.

Video from a surveillance camera captured at 1:18 a.m. on July 3 shows a man run up and suckerpunch one of the teens. The assailant then continues to beat and stomp on the teen mercilessly. As the attack was unfolding, the other victim involved said the assailant yelled “you f***ing terrorist!”

Once the attacker fled, paramedics were called in to tend to the victims. Their faces and identities have been blacked out for their protection.

Though the Muslim community is urging this bloody beatdown to be filed as a hate crime, the NYPD’s 72nd precinct has deemed it a “non-bias incident” after allegedly interviewing both of the victims.

The police captain of the precinct has since apologized to the Muslim community for not providing more protection during Ramadan. He’s also declared that his department is taking this incident seriously.
