FLINT, MICHIGAN — A police officer was stabbed at an airport in Michigan on Wednesday morning. The FBI is investigating whether the incident was an act of terrorism.

The injured officer has been identified as Lieutenant Jeff Neville, who retired from Genesee County Sheriff’s Department and is now a member of the Bishop International Airport’s Department of Public Safety.

According to ABC 12, Lieutenant Neville was at his post at the top of the escalators at Flint's Bishop Airport when he was attacked from behind. NBC News reported that the suspect allegedly shouted ‘Allahu akbar’ before stabbing him in the neck.

Lieutenant Neville is in stable condition after undergoing surgery. The suspect is in custody. Authorities said the suspect is from Quebec and has a Canadian passport.

The airport was evacuated and closed after the incident, but has reopened in the afternoon. The FBI believes the attack to be an isolated incident and there is no information showing a threat is present in the Flint community.
