Pepperidge Farm, a division of Campbell’s Soup, has won two of the packaging industry’s most prestigious awards: the DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation, and an Ameristar award from the Institute of Packaging Professionals. Both awards recognize new, sustainable packaging which reduce the use of materials by 65 percent and produce an added benefit: 25 percent more product can be shipped in the same-sized shipping unit, resulting in reduced transportation costs and a smaller carbon footprint.

Volunteers of America of Illinois, EcoMedia, and Energizer have celebrated the grand opening in Chicago of the Hope Manor Apartments, a supportive housing development that provides shelter and services to veterans who are struggling with the transition to civilian life. The eco-focused building complex includes a solar thermal hot water system, Energy-Star rated efficient lighting and systems, and the use of recycled materials.
