Pepperidge Farm May Experience a
Cookie Shortage During the Holidays.
Pepperidge Farm’s parent company,
Campbell Soup Co., has revealed its
cookie supply is running a bit low. .
During a recent investors meeting,
CEO Mark Clouse said that “supply
constraints” had negatively impacted
Pepperidge Farm’s cookie creation. .
Among those constraints are an increase
in “consumer snacking behavior” and
labor shortages due to COVID-19.
We are still working through some supply
constraints, including a challenge in
cookies where the combination of demand
and labor impacted by COVID-19 has
had some negative impact on supply, Mark Clouse, via Thrillist.
A recent report by Top Data revealed that
America’s cookie consumption has risen 25 percent
since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. .
Pepperidge Farm cookie
demand went up a reported
8.7 percent in the 13-week
period ending on November 1. .
Pepperidge Farm doesn’t rely on
third-party manufacturers, meaning
production falls completely on Campbell. .
This portfolio is unique with
proprietary recipes, and therefore
we do not outsource production, Campbell Soup Co., to 'Bloomberg News'.
But Clouse says they are "confident" they'll
be able to meet the "long-term demand.".
Despite these isolated challenges,
we feel very confident in our ability to
meet the long-term demand driven
by the expected sustained growth
of consumer snacking behavior, Mark Clouse, via Thrillist
