Wales headlines 21 December: Candidates get final backing in FM bid

An inquest into the death of three young men in Coedely earlier on this month in a car crash has heard there were 6 people in the vehicle at the time of the incident. The Jesse Owen 18, Callum Griffiths 19 and Morgan Smith 18 all died roughly an hour after the crash. the inquest will continue next year.

All of the final endorsements of Labour leader candidates are officially in after health Minister Eluned Morgan backed Vaughn Gething to give him his tenth recommendation. Jeremy Miles, the only other name on the ballot, has 16 Senedd members giving him the nod, with Mark Drakeford and the chief whip Jane Hutt not expected to back a candidate.

And in some positive festive news, a village Christmas tree which had its lights stolen by thieves has been relit after help poured into the village. It is the first year Trefechan in Merthyr Tydfil had its own christmas tree for the people of the village, and residents have said they hope thieves leave the tree as it is.
