Wales headlines 9 March: Union ‘pauses’ strike action

The Unite union representing ambulance workers has said they are ‘pausing’ Friday’s strikes after making progress in talks with health bosses. Around a quarter of Welsh ambulance workers were set to walk out on Monday and Friday this week, but the Welsh government have said they welcome to decision from the union.

A member of the Senedd has said there has been a great deal of public distress over the police’s handling of the search for 5 missing people over the weekend. The group were reported missing over the weekend, but it wasn’t until Sunday evening that a member of the public found the car they were found in and three dead bodies.

More schools have closed across Wales as snow has continued to fall across the country. Snow fell further north over Wednesday night, with roads and schools from Caerphilly all the way north to Wrexham closed for safety reasons.
