सनातन धर्म में पूर्णिमा का विशेष महत्व माना जाता है. पूर्णिमा के दिन लोग विशेष पूजा-अर्चना करते हैं. सभी पूर्णिमा में माघ पूर्णिमा को विशेष दर्जा दिया गया है. मान्यताओं के अनुसार इस दिन समस्त देवता स्वर्ग से धरती पर आते हैं. माघ पूर्णिमा के दिन स्नान का विशेष महत्व होता है. धर्माचार्यों के अनुसार इस दिन गंगाजल हाथ में लेने मात्र से व्यक्ति के सभी पाप धुल जाते हैं. इस बार शनिवार पांच फरवरी को माघ पूर्णिमा है.
