Ahoi Ashtami is the day of worship of Ahoi Mata i.e. Mother Gaura. Ahoi Mata is the form of Mother Parvati. Mother Parvati and Lord Shiva are pleased by observing this fast and bless the children with longevity. A woman who has a son or a son is married, should do Ujman of Ahoi Mata. Place four puris in seven places in a plate and place some pudding on them. Along with this, placing a teal (saree and blouse) and whatever money you can keep on it, put your hands around the plate and give it to her by touching the feet of mother-in-law. Distribute the Bayana of Halwa Poori by keeping Sasuji Teal and money with you. If possible, send Bayana to sister-daughter's place too.

अहोई माता यानि माँ गौरा की पूजा का दिन है अहोई अष्टमी। माँ पार्वती का ही स्वरुप है अहोई माता। इस व्रत के करने से माँ पार्वती व भगवान भोले शंकर प्रसन्न होते हैं और बच्चों को दीर्घायु होने का आशीर्वाद देते हैं। जिस स्त्री के घर बेटा हुआ हो अथवा बेटे का विवाह हुआ हो उसे अहोई माता का उजमन करना चाहिए। एक थाली में सात जगह चार – चार पूडियां रखकर उनपर थोड़ा -थोड़ा हलवा रखें। इसके साथ ही एक तीयल (साड़ी और ब्लाउज )और उस पर जो कुछ रूपए रख सकते हैं वो रखकर थाली के चारों ओर हाथ फेरकर सासूजी के चरण छूकर उन्हें दे दें। सासूजी तीयल और रूपए अपने पास रखकर हलवा पूरी का बायना बाँट दें । अगर हो सके तो बहिन – बेटी के यहाँ भी बायना भेज दें ।
