Mok-yeon, China sent its new aircraft carrier, the Shandong,... to the sensitive Taiwan Strait on Sunday.
It was an apparent response against Washington,...after a US warship passed through the same area,... just a day before.
It was the 12th such mission by the U.S. Navy this year.
It came amid its increased support for Taiwan's self-defense,... which further angered Beijing.
Escalating tensions have prompted Taiwan to ramp up its forces in the region to monitor the situation.
The Taiwan Strait has long been debated between Taipei and Beijing,...as China claims sovereignty over the democratically-governed island.
With Washington weighing in to support Taipei,.. the strait has also become a frequent source of tension between the US and China.
