Following military talks with the U.S. in Thailand,... China said it will not tolerate any independence incidents in Taiwan and urged the U.S. not to escalate tensions in the region and avoid adding “new uncertainties”.
Spokesman for Chinese defense ministry, Wu Qian, gave reporters on Monday a recount of closed-door talks between Beijing and Washington military officials on the sidelines of defense talks held in Bangkok.
The comments also came at a critical time,... when Taiwan is only a few montha away from a presidential election.
Also, on Sunday, a Chinese carrier ship was confirmed to have sailed through the Taiwan Strait, trailed by U.S. and Japanese ships.
U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper, however, had earlier criticized China at the talks,... saying Beijing is coercing and intimidating other nations for its own interest.
