The U.S. Treasury Department has kept South Korea on its watch list for currency manipulation.
In its currency report released on Wednesday, the Treasury said China, Japan, Germany and Italy remain on the same list.
Switzerland and Vietnam have been newly added.
A U.S. trading partner is named as a currency manipulator if it has a bilateral trade surplus of 20 billion dollars or more with the U.S., a current account surplus of two percent or more of its GDP,... or persistent one-sided intervention in foreign exchange markets.
