EU, 거대 IT 기업 겨냥 강화된 새 규정 제안

Global tech giants are expected to face major obstacles regarding tax and other regulations by the EU,.. as the bloc proposed sweeping new rules to counter their dominance in the region.
For more on this and other news from around the world, we turn to our Lee Kyung-eun.
Kyung-eun, what's the latest?
The EU has proposed two draft laws,.. that would impose stricter rules against tech giants like Facebook, Amazon, and Google.
The first one is aimed at enhancing fair behavior in their business.
The so-called Digital Markets Act would ban companies from enforcing pre-installed software or apps on users,... or harvesting users' data to compete against them.
Violators could face huge fines,...up to 10 percent of their annual revenue.
Another law targets e-commerce platforms,... asking them to take more responsibility for their goods and services.
The Digital Services Act will include identifying sellers so that rogue traders can be tracked down.
It also requires them to be transparent with their recommendations algorithms,... and to swiftly take down illegal content.
Eyes are on how this will affect the already strained EU-US trade relations,... as the law would target many American tech giants.
