오늘부터 공인인증서 폐지…"공공기관 민간인증서 사용 가능"

Beginning today, South Korea opens up its public online verification certificate system, so people can instead use certificates issued by private companies.
The aim is to make it simpler for people to get verification certificates, which are used for online banking, tax returns and other online transactions.
The Ministry of Science and ICT says the amended Digital Signature Act will remove the monopoly status of the public organizations that had been issuing certificates used for personal authentication.
