The U.S. Secretary of State paid an unprecendented visit to the Israeli settlement in the Golan Heights,...calling the disputed area 'part of Israel'.
This reverses the position long-held by the U.S. and the international community.

Kyung-eun, tell us more about Pompeo's visit.

Mok-yeon, Pompeo visited the Israeli settlement in the Golan Heights on Thursday,... becoming the first U.S. secretary of state to make a trip the region that Israel seized from Syria.
Despite the international community's opposition, the Trump administration has supported Israel's sovereignty over the disputed area.
And Pompeo reaffirmed the position during the visit,... reversing America's long-held stance.
"You can't stand here and stare out at what's across the border and deny the central thing that President Trump recognized what the previous presidents have refused to do. This is a part of Israel and a central part of Israel."
Pompeo had also previously said that the settlement doesn't violate international law.
The latest comment sparked anger among Palestinians, who accused him of cementing Israeli's occuptation of the region.
