More than 6-thousand after-school care workers in South Korea are going on a one-day strike Friday.
The coalition of non-regular school workers says more than half of their members will walk off the job to protest a legislative revision to the child-care management system.
The proposed change would put local government in charge of after-school child-care services rather than individual elementary schools that currently employ care workers.
Workers fear the new legislation could threaten job security and worsen work conditions.
This strike has sparked concerns among working parents how might have to arrange child-care alternatives today.
