The WHO is warning that Africa is at pivotal moment as the continent continues to witness a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths.
The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported there has been a seven percent increase of average weekly cases and a eight percent increase in weekly deaths, over the past month.
The WHO's Africa director also expressed concern about how rising cases in Europe could also affect Africa.
So far, South Africa accounts for nearly half the continent's cases.
North African countries, such as Morocco and Libya, have also been reporting sizeable upticks.
