President Moon Jae-in and his Russian counterpart Vladmir Putin have reaffirmed their commitment to seeking peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
According to South Korea's presidential spokesman Kang Min-seok, the two leaders held a 35-minute
phone call on Monday to mark 30 years of Seoul-Moscow relations.
Moon pledged to continue efforts to achieve complete denuclearization and permanent peace between the two Koreas, despite "difficult conditions," and asked for Russia's support.
Putin responded that he hoped to see talks resume between the two Koreas, adding Russia would cooperate in the peace drive.
The two leaders also discussed areas of economic cooperation, and the global response to COVID-19.
Moon proposed that Russia participate in the Seoul-based International Vaccine Institute.
Putin said he'd consider the plan.
The Russian leader said he was deeply impressed by South Korea's virus prevention measures,... adding that he'd visit Seoul after getting Russia's recently-developed vaccine.
