미 서부 산불 사망자 33명으로…"대기질도 역대최악"

It's time now for our Monday edition of Arirang's 'The World Now'. I'm Kim Jae-hee.
We begin with massive fires burning across the west coast of the U.S.
Devastating wildfires have covered the area with smoke, creating poor air quality and limiting search and rescue operations.
According to AP, the fires in three west coast states have led to the deaths of at least 33 people.
At least 10 people have been killed in Oregon, twenty-two people have died in California, and one person has been killed in Washington State.
This includes a one-year-old baby in the state of Washington, and a 13-year-old boy in Oregon, who died inside a car with his dog.
According to the U.S. National Interagency Fire Center, around one hundred fires burning in the three states have destroyed an area almost a fifth of the size of South Korea.
Smoke pollution from the deadly fires is also creating dangerously unhealthy air conditions.
U.S. President Donald Trump will visit California on Monday to be briefed on the latest situation
