S. Korea elected as member of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for the third time

South Korea has been elected as a member of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.
At the 8th session of the General Assembly, South Korea won support from 80 out of one-hundred-46 countries.
This means Seoul can be part of the final say on whether a property is inscribed on the World Heritage List as well as defining the use or allocating the funds.
This is the third time South Korea has become one of the 21 States Parties.
The term of office is usually four years,... but a country cannot serve consecutive terms and has to wait two years for another chance.
