If a batsman at the non-striker's end is leaving the crease before the bowler has released the ball, he is not following the spirit of the game and should not seek empathy if he is run out, reckons ICC match referee and former India pacer Javagal Srinath. India off-spinner R Ashwin courted controversy when he ran out Jos Buttler during IPL 2019 as the England batsman backed up too far. The act triggered the age-old debate on the bowler's conduct in such dismissals.

पिछले साल आईपीएल में एक बड़ा विवाद हुआ था. आईपीएल सीजन 12 में किंग्स इलेवन पंजाब और राजस्थान रॉयल्स के बीच मुकाबला खेला गया था. इस मैच के दौरान आर अश्विन ने एक ऐसा काम किया था. जिसकी वजह से विश्व क्रिकेट दो तरफा हो गया. अश्विन ने मांक डिंग की थी. उन्होंने जोस बटलर को मांकडिंग नियम के तहत रन आउट किया था. हालांकि, इसे करने के लिए पहले बल्लेबाज को गेंदबाज वॉर्निंग देता है और अश्विन ने ऐसा नहीं किया था. बटलर और अश्विन के बीच मैदान पर कहासुनी हुई और राजस्थान रॉयल्स वो मुकाबला हार गया था. इसके बाद खूब बहस हुई. कुछ क्रिकेट दिग्गज अश्विन के पक्ष में बोले तो कुछ जोस बटलर के पक्ष में. अब आईसीसी के मैच रेफरी और पूर्व भारतीय गेंदबाज जवागल श्रीनाथ ने इस मुद्दे पर एक साल बाद चुप्पी तोड़ी है.
