Despite their ongoing tensions,... the U.S. and China remain optimistic about their phase one trade deal, expressing a commitment to ensure its success.
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative says there was "regularly scheduled phone call" on Monday between Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and their Chinese counterpart Liu He.
They addressed the steps Beijing has taken to make the structural changes called for under the agreement...that will ensure greater protection for intellectual property rights and eliminate enforced tech transfer.
The call came more than a week after it was originally scheduled as President Trump lashed out at China over COVID-19.
