방송계에 불어닥친 코로나...연예계도 코로나 본격 확산하나

COVID-19 continues to spread across South Korea affecting different businesses, from call centers to coffee shops.
And now,... the first cases within the broadcasting industry have been confirmed.
Hong Yoo reports.
Starting with the Christian Broadcasting System or CBS being shut down due to a reporter being confirmed with COVID-19, the Seoul Broadcasting System was closed on Thursday, putting South Korea's broadcasting industry on alert.
A Seoul Broadcasting System building was shut Thursday as a teacher from a kindergarten inside one of the company buildings was confirmed to have COVID-19.
The nation's most well-known broadcaster KBS has also reported virus transmission between the actors and production team of one of its dramas.
The active transmission is also occurring among TV stars.
Actor Heo Dong-won, who stars in a KBS drama, contracted the virus from his colleague Seo Seong-jong who is working on the same theatrical play as him.
From the same play, actor Kim Won-hae also tested positive.
For another broadcasting system, JTBC, a program was suspended as one of its star actors came into direct contact with a confirmed patient.
The program's casting crew and the production team are currently in self-quarantine and the building has been sterilized.
In response to rising COVID-19 cases, South Korea's broadcasting industry is coming up with countermeasures.
KBS has secured another building that could be used as its backup master control room if their main one is shutdown.
MBC plans to use an outdoor broadcasting van as their master control room should they be forced to shutdown.
Watchers say the possibility of a domino transmission in the broadcasting industry is likely as face-to-face contact in the field is often unavoidable.
