The founder of Hong Kong newspaper Apple Daily, Jimmy Lai Chee-ying, was escorted to his yacht on August 11, 2020, by police who said they were collecting evidence after his arrest on suspicion of violating the city's national security law. The media tycoon was arrested the previous day and faces allegations that he colluded with foreign forces to endanger national security, uttered seditious words and taking part in a conspiracy to defraud.
