Multiple roads in central S. Korea blocked due to heavy downpours

We start with this year's record-breaking monsoon season in South Korea.
It has already brought us torrential downpours, deadly floods and landslides.
With heavy showers pouring in the central region, a flood watch has been issued in areas near the Han River.
One dam in South Korea is releasing an enormous amount of rain.
Numerous roads have also been blocked.
We connect live to our Choi Jeong-yoon for more details.
Jeong-yoon, first tells us about flood alert.
Semin, a flood watch has been issued in valleys near the Han River, Daegok bridge area in Seoul and Seongnam city as of about an hour ago.
Citizens in areas vulnerable to damage have been advised to check weather updates constantly and campers, fishermen and construction workers to evacuate to safe areas.
This is due to the Paldang Dam, which directly influences the level of Han River, discharging some 14-thousand tons of water a second.
Heavy showers in the central region have also led to the water level rising sharply.
With the surge, some of major roads have been shut down again, such as the one connecting Dongjak Bridge and the Olympic Bridge since last night as well as some parts of the Gangbyeon Expressway since this morning.
The police advised people to use public transportation as the restrictions can last up to and beyond commuting hours.
So be sure to check for traffic updates before you head out.
The water level on the Imjin River, which runs along the western part of the inter-Korean border, has also went up leading to emergency flood evacuation orders being issued for Paju and Yeoncheon, the northernmost residential areas in South Korea.
Jeong-yoon, tells us more on the evacuation as those are both well-populated areas..
Citizens living in lowlands near Paju and Yeoncheon have evacuated as the water level of a bridge near the Imjin River soared on Thursday.
More than 4-thousand 2-hundred residents in Paju have taken shelter in nearby schools, churches or to houses of relatives or acquaintances.
Some 12-hundred people in Yeoncheon evacuated to schools and a community hall as well.
A barometer for issuing a flooding alert in the region is the Biryong bridge, of which saw the water level topping 13-point-5 meters, the highest on record.
The previous record was 20 years ago when it hit around 11 meters.
However, as of 6 AM, the water level has declined to around 11 meters.
Paju and Yeoncheon didn't see torrential rain but such a dramatic rise is being attributed to heavy downfalls in North Korea, which flowed into the Imjin River. North Korea also released a massive amount water from its dams, one of which is located on the upper part of the Imjin River.
