The U.S. Marshalls have arrested a Chinese national suspected of lying about her ties to the Chinese military... in applying for her visa.
The U.S. Attorney's office says Tang Juan, a biology researcher at UC Davis, is charged with visa fraud along with three others.
Tang had been staying at the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco and was taken into custody on Friday.
The Justice Department has released a photo of Tang wearing the uniform of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
The U.S. suspects the Chinese government of using people with military connections to steal research from American universities in the interest of economic gain.
