U.S. politicians voice concern over reported move to cut U.S. troop numbers in S. Korea

Some U.S. politicians are voicing concerns on reports the White House might cut the number of U.S. troops stationed in South Korea.
Former U.S. Ambassador to South Korea, Christopher Hill said in an interview with VOA on Monday that he thought it's a "very bad idea",... and is music to the ears of the North Koreans.
He added it could suggest to the Chinese that the U.S. is making a strategic withdrawal,... and would send the wrong message to Japan.
On Sunday, Ami Bera, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific and Nonproliferation at the House Foreign Affairs Committee, retweeted the Wall Street Journal's recent report on the plans,... saying it would be "irresponsible."
Senator Ben Sasse said it would be "strategic incompetence."
