이제 화재 진압도 스마트하게...풍부한 정보 담긴 GIS 활용

A more detailed version on GPS, known as Geographic Information System is helping firefighters in South Korea.
The tech has been incorporated into the existing smart fire control simulation training.
Park Se-young gets us better acuqainted with the GIS.
Fire trucks are dispatched to the scene in a virtual fire drill.
While on the move, the firefighters plan how to extinguish the fire by checking the shape and height of the building through high-precision GPS.
Information on how many fire trucks are gathering and key facilities around the scene of the fire are also delivered in real-time through the situation room.
The simulation training based on the Geographic Information System platform is designed to use more than 60 types of information from satellites ...including information on underground facilities and structural safety ...for smarter firefighting.
It reduces geographical errors that can occur in densely built-up areas and helps those in charge to gain an all-encompassing view of disaster sites.
“Systematic input and utilization of information about all buildings and fire facilities can help protect citizens and property.”
Incheon, as part of its smart city project, plans to incorporate the GIS system for firefighting and disaster preparation starting next year.
