Russia's ambassador to Pyeongyang says any speculation surrounding North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's health is nothing more than "empty rumors."
In an interview with Russia's TASS news agency Monday, Ambassador Alexander Matsegora said rumors about the North Korean leader are "baseless" and the regime is "functioning as usual."
He added that there was no reason to believe that Kim Jong-un's sister, Kim Yo-jong, is being trained as the regime's next leader.
He explained that Kim Jong-un's recent absence from the public view may be due to him focusing on "rethinking" the unsuccessful outcome of inter-Korean relations.
