The South Korean government distributed more than nine million public face masks nationwide for sale today.
Seoul's food and drug safety ministry said over nine million masks have been distributed to drugstores, Nonghyup Hanaro Marts, post offices, medical centers,... as well as the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
The government also plans to increase the daily production of the thinner, more breathable masks to one million by the end of this month on soaring demand.
Nine types of the thinner, droplet-blocking masks from four companies have been approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, so far.
