모다페 2020 개막, 국내 최정상 안무가 코로나 함께 이겨내는 응원의 에너지 보내

South Korea's top dancers have gathered here in Seoul to participate in the International Modern Dance Festival or MODAFE 2020.
As the event aims to spread positive energy during this pandemic, the performances will be live-streamed online for everyone to watch at home.
Lee Kyung-eun reports.
With the energy of South Korea's top dancers, this area is lively once again.
The 2020 International Modern Dance Festival or MODAFE kicked off on Thursday in Daehak-no - the hub of stage performances in central Seoul.
The country's oldest contemporary dance festival usually brings together artists from all across the world.
But this time, due to the outbreak, the line-up is less diverse.
"None of the foreign artists could come due to COVID-19. Ironically, this enabled us to bring together more local artists, who are getting a chance to perform at a time when their own events have been canceled."
Some 32 performers will be participating until May 29th under the theme of "Little Heroes Come Together".
The theme was changed at the last minute due to the outbreak to honor those citizen heroes who have contributed to society.
The outbreak has also changed the way artists prepare for the stage.
"Typically, the team practices together in the studio. But this time, it was all done by studying video of past performances and discussing it through live chats."
As for the audience,... because of COVID-19, they have to sit one seat apart from each other.
And all stages are live-streamed via NAVER TV and V LIVE for everyone to watch at home.
Some 15-thousand people tuned in on the first day of the event.
"By using the online platforms for the first time, the festival aims to reach more people, and send positive energy to help them get through the crisis together.
