Typhoon Ambo continued its assault on the Philippines today (May 15) bringing strong winds and rainfalls to the country.

Footage shows the downpours this morning at the University of Eastern Philippines in northern Samar, the province next to eastern Samar where the typhoon made landfall yesterday at lunchtime (May 14).

A student captured the video while she was trapped in the school campus with several others who had been completing paperwork.

She said: "I feel distressed right now because there are no vehicles available and there is no way to go home. My child is now with my mother and I haven't received any updates from them yet."

Typhoon Ambo, with international name Vongfong, is the first typhoon to hit the country this year in the midst of COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
