Xi reaffirms commitment to visit S. Korea this year during phone talks with Moon

President Moon Jae-in and Chinese President Xi Jinping have agreed to push for a visit by Xi to South Korea before the end of the year when the COVID-19 situation eases.
In a phone conversation late Wednesday,... they also discussed their cooperation in the fight against the virus.

Chinese President Xi Jinping told President Moon Jae-in during phone talks late Wednesday that he remains committed to visiting South Korea this year.
The two leaders talked for over 30 minutes at the request of President Xi.
President Moon said the Chinese leader's visit to Seoul is more important than anything else for their bilateral relations.
They agreed to begin negotiations when the COVID-19 situation eases and the conditions are right.
It was their second phone conservation since the outbreak with their previous one happening in February.
Moon and Xi also shared their response to COVID-19 highlighting their close cooperation.
They welcomed a new "fast track" entry system for business people between the two sides.
The fast track system which simplifies entry procedures has been in effect since May 1st.
Thanks to the deal,... some 200 people from South Korean companies were able to enter China and begin work on Wednesday.
Xi said he's looking forward to strengthened cooperation and communication with South Korea, while Moon expressed hope the fast track system becomes a model for the global community.
Regarding the Korean Peninsula,... President Xi stressed his continued support for the peace process to which President Moon expressed his appreciation.
The top office did not elaborate further.
