Women's golf season gets going Thursday with 42nd KLPGA Championship

First baseball,... then football.
Now,... the women's golf season will tee off in South Korea... becoming the first golf tournament since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lee Seung-jae takes a look at the star studded line up that will be gracing the fairways at the 2020 KLPGA Championship.
The South Korean women's golf season gets going Thursday,... with the 42nd KLPGA Championship in Yangju, Gyeonggi-do Province.
It features 150 players and 2-point-4 million U.S. dollars in prize money is up for grabs.
The tournament also features some of the biggest names in women's golf.
"We weren't sure if we'd be able to play. I thank the organizers for putting this event together in such challenging times."
"As an athlete, I'm pleased and proud that South Korea is leading the way for the resumption of sports."
The golfers will be provided with space to practice independently,... relax and dine.
Special disinfection facilities will also be available to them.
The tournament will be held without any spectators,... to prevent the spread of the virus.
All media and journalists will have to practice social distancing protocols throughout the event.
With the KLPGA Championship the first and only pro golf tournament so far in 2020,... more than 80 foreign journalists are expected at the event.
