President Moon Jae-in wants the KCDC which has been South Korea's COVID-19 control tower to upgraded to a more independent agency known as the Disease Control and Prevention Administration.
In a Cabinet meeting Tuesday,... he said that should be the utmost priority for the incoming National Assembly.
We must not lose this opportunity. We cannot hesitate when faced with a crisis. We must swiftly strengthen our quarantine and health system. This is a must as we prepare for the second wave of COVID-19 that experts are expecting.
President Moon also ordered the government to begin talks on drawing up a third extra budget that will be used to minimize the impact of COVID-19 on workers and to revitalize the economy.
