A record number of South Koreans filed for unemployment benefits last month.
According to Seoul's labor ministry Monday, unemployment benefits paid in April rose to an all-time monthly high of about 815 million U.S. dollars.
That's an increase of around 35 percent compared to the same period last year.
The number of new applicants was up 33 percent to a total of 651-thousand.
