South Korean mobile giant Kakao Corporation posted record sales in the first quarter thanks to increasing demand for its services during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Kakao announced Thursday that its sales for January to March jumped 23 percent on-year to over 707-million U.S. dollars.
Its operating profit for the same period soared 219 percent from a year ago to over 71-million dollars.
Its mobile messaging app, KakaoTalk performed especially well, as did new businesses including mobile payment service Kakao Pay.
