President Moon Jae-in's approval rating has risen for the eighth consecutive week, surpassing the 60 percent mark for the first time in 18 months.
According to the latest poll by Gallup Korea this week, President Moon's approval rating reached 62 percent, rising 3 percentage points from the previous week.
This marks the first time that the President's rating has surpassed 60 percent since October 2018, right after the third inter-Korean summit was held in Pyeongyang.
His rating was the highest right after the June local elections in 2018 with 79 percent.
When participants were asked why they gave positive feedback, 55 percent chose the Moon administration's handling of the coronavirus pandemic, followed by the President's hard work fulfilling his duties.
