South Korean Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyn will ask lawmakers Monday for their bipartisan support for the government's supplementary budget bill aimed at cushioning the economic fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a speech to the National Assembly, the PM will explain the scope of the six-point-two billion U.S. dollar extra budget bill as well as the need to execute it as soon as possible.
The finance ministry previously announced the new budget will be used to financially support families of four or more in the lower 70 percent income bracket with a one-time payment of 820 dollars.
The second extra budget since the COVID-19 pandemic would come on the heels of the 9-point-6 billion dollar relief package that passed the assembly last month.
