It was the first election anyway in the world since the COVID-19 pandemic, but South Korea saw its highest voter turnout for a general election ince 1992 at over 66-percent.
We now have a clear picture of what the next parliament will look like one dominated by the ruling Democratic Party.
For a closer look at the election and what we can expect going forward,... we have Arirang News' Oh Jung-hee joining us in the studio this morning.

Have the ballots been all counted?
Yes, Semin, yesterday's votes have all been counted.
We still have to wait a little more to see who will be the proportional representatives... but most of the district lawmakers are known.
All in all, the election's a big win for the ruling Democratic Party... and a crushing defeat for the main opposition United Future Party.
According to he National Election Commission, it's seen that the ruling Democratic Party and its satellite parties will take almost 180 seats... out of the 300 up for grabs in the National Assembly.
That's well over half.
The main opposition United Future Party and its satellite Future Korea Party are expected to finish in second with 104 seats.
The United Future Party's leader Hwang Kyo-ahn resigned last night, saying he will take responsibility for his party's defeat.
Let's cut to the victory and defeat speeches by major candidates from the ruling and main opposition parties.
"The nation has given the ruling party the responsibility to overcome the COVID-19 disaster and handle the global crisis. I will fulfill the ruling party's responsibility."
"As I promised, I take responsibility for the party's defeat and I will step down from my post."
At this general election, there were some key candidates many had their eyes on.
Give us a runthrough it went for them in the key battleground districts.
Well, we have to start with Seoul's Jongno district.
It's a highly symbolic district because the winner of the district has widely been considered to have a higher chance of becoming president one day.
At this election, two candidates that served as the country's Prime Ministers ran for this district... and the ruling Democratic Party candidate Lee Nak-yon won against his conservative rival Hwang Kyo-ahn with over 58-percent support.
Other than Lee, other Democratic Party candidates who served at President Moon Jae-in administration all won.
Former presidential spokesperson Ko Min-jung won Seoul's Gwangjin-B district... and former presidential secretary for state affairs, Yun Kun-young, won Seoul's Guro-B district.
Meanwhile, Thae Gu-min, or Thae Yong-ho, will become the first-ever North Korean defector to win a seat in South Korea's National Assembly.
Remember, he was North Korea's number-2 diplomat at the London embassy but defected to South Korea in 2016 and ran for Gangnam-A district.
So overall, it was a massive win...
