Microsoft founder Bill Gates has called on the countries of the G20 to provide more funding to develop a coronavirus vaccine... and to work together to make sure any vaccine is affordable for everyone.
In an opinion piece provided Sunday exclusively to South Korea's Yonhap News Agency, Gates said at least 2 billion dollars will be needed for vaccine research by the group known as the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, which is affiliated with his Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
He called on the G20 leaders not only to contribute more, but to prevent what he called a potential bidding war for the vaccine.
This past week, Gates spoke on the phone with South Korean President Moon Jae-in, praising South Korea's response to COVID-19.
Moon said he expects to see more cooperation with the Gates foundation in fighting diseases.
