A team of South Korean researchers have found a way to determine the precise 3D structures of nanomaterials... that had previously only been theoretically speculated.
Researchers at South Korea's Institute for Basic Science... working in collaboration with Australia's Monash University and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in the U.S. created the new methodology.
It allows researchers to measure the atomic displacement... and strain on the surface atoms of individual nanoparticles.
The research is expected to contribute to fields where nanomaterials are used... such as fuel cells, hydrogen vehicles and new drug development.
The study has been published in the journal Science.
