The outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States and the resulting 'stay at home' orders have triggered a wave of people seeking government benefits after losing their jobs in March.
According to the U.S. Labor Department on Thursday,... the latest numbers include a record of more than 6-point-6 million Americans who applied for unemployment benefits just last week.
Experts say the actual number could be higher,... as many newly unemployed Americans haven't yet been able to fill out a claim.
The past two weeks have also erased nearly all the jobs created in the past five years.
