Leaders of the BRICS group of major emerging economies have reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism and free trade.
In their joint Brasilia declaration on Thursday local time, the BRICS countries, made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, vowed to overcome "significant challenges" facing multilateralism and called for urgent reform of international organizations including the UN, WTO and IMF.
They underlined the importance of "open, free and inclusive international trade" and added that all WTO members should avoid "unilateral and protectionist measures".
They also said they support a "peaceful, diplomatic and political solution" to the challenges surrounding the Korean Peninsula and also support complete denuclearization.
