Italy declares state of emergency in flood-ravaged Venice
  • 4 years ago
After Venice was ravaged by severe floods, Italy has declared a state of emergency in the city.
The decision came after a cabinet meeting on Thursday to provide 22 million U.S. dollars in funding to help Venice recover.
The city was engulfed by high water levels reaching almost 190 centimeters on Tuesday, the second highest water level ever recorded in the city.
The floods swallowed a UNESCO World Heritage Site and left two people dead.
